We're off to an exciting start of the school year. Getting procedures and routines in place, organizing and getting the hang of a new school and new class. Yesterday we started the STAY GREEN Discipline Referral System. For more information please check out the STAY GREEN Section on this web page. For more information on the TMS Discipline Plan see the policy in the student agendas.
By now most students have received their agendas. I ask them to write the homework in their agendas daily, whether they have completed it or not. This helps not only with record keeping skills, but as a log of what we have done throughout the school year. There is also a log of hall passes in the back of the agenda. This will help with keeping track of students being out of the classroom. If a student forgets his/her agenda at home they will not be allowed out of the classroom, as per school policy. Please help your child remember their agenda daily to avoid this problem.
This Friday we will be returning to the Thanksgiving Farm (Tierra Lucero Farming Project) to work with Bob Pedersen. Each week the students will learn more about the farm, plants that are their, seeding, harvesting and eventually cooking and preparing food from the ground. I encourage any parents, family, and friends who would like to join us to contact me, Hillary McPartlon, for more information (575)737-6060 x3115.

- Taos, New Mexico, United States
- My name is Hillary McPartlon. I am the teacher of the HANDS Program. H.A.N.D.S (Helping Academic Needs of Diverse Students) is a pilot program at Taos Middle School for 6th graders. It is designed for students who seek a challenging environment with a hands-on approach. Through multi-disciplinary learning, students will learn core academics, real-world challenges, and leadership skills. The HANDS Lab is for learners of all levels and backgrounds. The ultimate goal is to treat each student as an individual learner as part of a cooperative team.
